Rui LU
Born in 1993 in China
As a artist, documentary filmmaker, and social researcher based in France. Her work spans visual art, fieldwork, and graphic design, focusing on death rituals, the politics of the body, and cultural transformation. Blending personal experience with anthropological perspectives, her practice explores how ritual, memory, and identity intersect through visual and narrative forms.
She has carried out research and artistic projects in France, Germany, and China. Rui previously worked as an art director in Paris, and is currently engaged in long-term documentary and anthropological research on funeral practices in rural. She films as she conducts fieldwork, seeking to weave intimate observation with critical reflection.
